Experiments & Demonstrations

Navigating Climate Adaptation & Mitigation

Through interactive experiments and gameplay, participants explore how Singapore can respond to climate change through adaptation and mitigation. They will examine different strategies and understand how these approaches work together to build a more climate-resilient future.

2a. Understanding Internal Microclimates

Participants immerse themselves in the study of internal micro-climates, uncovering how invisible forces like heat, airflow, and humidity shape comfort within homes. This exploration encourages them to look beyond surface observations, reflecting on how thoughtful home adaptations and daily habits can enhance comfort and build resilience to rising heat.

2b. Reflective Futures

Participants explore how surfaces and materials shape thermal experiences, uncovering the hidden effects of colour, texture, and reflectivity on temperature. Through this investigation, they gain insight into how everyday choices—from clothing to building design—can influence heat, and consider ways to create cooler, more climate-resilient environments.

2c. Tides of Change

Singapore is a city of intense rainfall and sudden storms, a reality intensified by climate change. As a modern metropolis, we must adapt to these ever-changing conditions, finding a balance between urban development and sustainability. How can we design a flood-resilient Singapore that thrives in the face of these challenges?

2d. Singapore Heatscape

Ever wondered which parts of Singapore are hottest—or coolest? Delve into urban heat mapping to explore the Urban Heat Island effect, uncover the factors that shape temperature differences, and consider strategies for climate adaptation.

2e. Chart the Energy

Participants participate in a physical simulation that demonstrates the use of renewable energy for energy supply and demand. Using a custom-designed gamified learning, participants will layer various renewable sources to power a city through its daily peaks and troughs. The challenge reveals the world challenges that a sustainable future is not just about generating green electricity, but about the strategic solution of adapting them in our daily lives.

3

Step into a dynamic environment where nature works in interconnected systems. From the vital role of pollinators in the bee farm to the cultivation of fresh produce in the urban farm, this space shows how ecosystems support food, biodiversity, and resilience.

Discover how bees, plants, and people contribute to a balanced cycle of growth, resilience, and renewal, and be inspired by how nature’s processes can shape more sustainable ways of living.

Farm Learning Experience

3. Urban Farm Experiences

Discover how urban farming is shaping the future of food in Singapore. Learn why growing locally matters, and explore how innovative methods like hydroponics and vertical farming make it possible to cultivate fresh produce in the city. Bring home your very own planter kit so you can continue your urban farming journey beyond the farm.

Gamified Experiences

Tackle real-world sustainability challenges by playing engaging games where you can strategise net-zero paths, rebuild ecosystems, and debate global goals.

5a. Think Global

Step into a race against time to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Through movement, dice rolls, and quick-fire challenges, players learn how every decision shapes the planet’s future. A fast-paced game of knowledge, teamwork, and global citizenship — discover what it takes to reach a better world, together.

5b. Biome-diversity

Rebuild a damaged planet by weaving together diverse ecosystems — forests, reefs, wetlands, deserts. Players must restore balance, nurture species, and protect against climate threats. An immersive world-building challenge that celebrates biodiversity’s power to heal our Earth.

5c. Game of CO2

An eye-opening card game that reveals the hidden carbon footprints behind everyday products and actions. Players compare, guess, and flip to uncover which items have the bigger impact.
